5 Things Ennis Misses About Jack ('63-'83)

5. Stories. They gave each other their full attention for at least the first two days after they met up...just them loving...nothing and nobody would intrude...But after they were sated...however long it took...they had plenty of time to catch up...talk...and Jack could tell a story like nobody else...have Ennis laughing till he cried...at the stories...the stories.

4. Sound of his voice. No mistaking that voice. Raised in song, surprisingly melodic and on-key. But best when his lips were close to Ennis's ear, so he could hear that deep, low, throaty sound...sometimes a whisper...sometimes pleading...sometimes demanding...and being that close usually meant he was saying some lovely fuckin' words....

3. His kiss. Fuck...couldn't nobody kiss like Jack...one time he held Ennis by the wrists, hands captive by his head, and kissed him for hours...no touching...just kissing...long and deep, pulling away, back for more, tongue soft and licking, (and that low moaning sound he made -Jesus) breaking away once to kiss neck, shoulders, ear...but Ennis wanted Jack's mouth...lunged for him...and Jack must have got the message, stayed away from his mouth and enjoyed the tension that built in Ennis until he had finally begged Jack in a whisper to kiss him...had even said please. It was night.

2. His eyes. Well, what can you say about eyes like that? Already been said. Ennis would get Jack telling a story, get him talking about anything that could go on for a long, long time...spend that long time looking into those eyes. He was pretty sure Jack never knew what he was up to.

1. Comfortable silence. Nothing Ennis liked better (well, almost nothing) than resting back in Jack's arms, peace all around them, and for a time, peace inside him. Lying together day or night, listening to mourning dove or owl, bluejay or nightbird. Sometimes the only thing he'd hear in their comfortable silence was Jack's heartbeat...best sound.

I especially liked the part of hearing his heart beat and resting in his arms being safe and sound and relaxed the few times in his life when he could let all the tension be gone. Just lovely! Joe

Sorry for not leaving a proper comment yesterday.
I read and enjoyed both of your 5 things entries. Well done!
