My mother has a huge old one in her garden. I have T. europea, grey bark, smaller leaves, more flowery scent. On the whole, I like T. cordata better, and I'm planning to plant one, although all Tilia have the drawback of being very slow-growing and I won't see it in its full hundred-year-old glory... Your series is a daily pleasure, I never know what you'll be writing about next! My secret hope is that you'll keep it up *at least* until New Year's Day, what with new beginnings and stuff. I understand that it would take a lot of dedication, even though your writing feels so effortless. But there, I said it. You can't get if you don't ask =)
