“I gotta get outta here…I’m takin a ride.”

“You forget it snowed last night?”

“Didn’t snow enough to keep me in here.”

“Yeah it did, and ya ain’t takin my horses out in it.”

“Well, I ain’t just gonna sit here and look at you...”

“Well......................................maybe I can make it up to you…”

“What the hell’s that mean?”

“I don’t know...just thinkin... We got cards. How bout a game a strip poker? You deal.”

so good to see an update of this story! strip poker sounds kind of therapeutic. I think I believe that it would be therapeutic for Ennis and Jack to have a round of strip poker because I imagine it would be easier for Ennis to talk. I might be completely wrong, though, but in my mind Ennis is a man who starts talking when he feels comfortable about being intimate. I'm curious to read how the strip poker goes, considering it's winter outside.

Therapeutic is exactly what it is. He wants Jack in control so he can pretend that Jack is in control....

Ennis is so like most people: he wants something "forbidden" to him, so places himself where he is not in control...but he places himself there...so he is in control...catch 22??

that's a very interesting comment. I can picture how Ennis would place himself in such a situation to feel that he's in control although he might not actually be in control of the situation. and what happens when he lets Jack take control? what happens if he realizes that he is letting Jack take control? now I'm even more curious to see how you continue the story. :)
