There was something about this guy.

Ennis really hadn't talked that much in a year...nobody he was interested in talking to.

Jack asked questions, but not in the nosy, annoying way most people did...it was more like he was really interested in what Ennis had to say...that was new...when had anyone ever been interested in him?

He'd never made friends easily, never really had one close friend, never shared confidences or had anyone to go to when things got bad...like when his parents died. Since he'd never had it, he'd never missed it.

But now...

Well, they had all summer.
