half moon

What’s Jack doing right now, right this minute, he wondered?

Don’t usually think a stuff like that, but it’s getting close to meetin up...startin to get that lookin forward to feelin...been missin him bad...

What’s he doing in fuckin Texas...spent the day sellin tractors to rich guys...last time he said he hated it…I hate this…

Don’t have to wait too much longer...next one Tetons, September…goddman it! one month too long for me...

What’s he doing while I’m taking four beer bottles out to the trash, lookin at a half moon starin me right in the face...

Prob’ly in bed already…

This one, and Bar before it, say so much about Jack and Ennis in just a few words. They set the mood, too. I love the way you do that!

Thanks for writing,
Leslie

You should have made the committment, Ennis.

Instead, you're taking out the trash.

What a powerful couple with "Bar". I like how you catch Ennis' determination not to even think about the next time until he feels he can stand the anticipation for the remaining time. It's really hard for them both. And despite the "American dream", neither of them was raised with the idea that one can and should stand up and fight for what they believe in, even if it doesn't conform to the ideas of the majority. Quite the opposite, in fact-- and some things are hard to shake, even after growing up.

If only so

Well, it is true we do think of our special people in our lives just as they are thinking on us I know my best friend and I do it constantly we are texting, calling at the exact same time so often leaving voice mails on each others phones at the same moment wondering why they are not answering when they are also calling us. Hmm wonder what he would think of Jack in this bar? Joe
