Now you know: eat more burgers…

He got out of bed before the sun broke the horizon, his mind, for the moment, peaceful, close to content, due to the most rare occurrence which had begun yesterday after he ate breakfast at the diner, took Junior and the kids for ice cream, and stopped for a fast food burger on the way home, which he never usually ate, wolfed down shortly after the ice cream, and which he figured was the real reason that he fell asleep on the couch after one beer and a boring football game, and which resulted in an amazingly erotic dream of Jack...Jack and him...surroundings out of focus or not remembered...waking seconds before experiencing a rapturous, intense, shuddering orgasm…complete with crystal visions of Jack that he hadn’t seen or even imagined in so long...which left him gasping and thoroughly expecting to feel Jack hot up against him, saying what he always said when they came at the exact same moment…the lack of warmth as he became aware causing tears to flow from his still unopened eyes.

What made the occurrence more unusual was what happened when he went to bed that night at his usual time…he fell asleep almost immediately and the dream began exactly where it had left off in the afternoon…and now he did feel Jack against him, all rough skin and hard muscle, felt the welcome burn as his face scraped against Ennis’s, felt the clammy heat of the tent, Jack’s full weight on him…and as they pulled apart, he saw...that face he couldn’t know he’d miss so much one day...the smooth planes of his cheekbones...blue of his eyes, black arch of his eyebrows against pale skin.

He entered REM sleep, eyelids flickering, eyes underneath moving, following motion, watching Jack, creating a filmstrip that, once out of his dream state, he would be able to play and replay, in slow motion, a frame at a time.

When he woke he lay for a while committing those visions to memory, almost as if they were new experiences...almost as if he was seeing it all for the first time, which, in a way, he was.

Dreams of things we want and cannot have are so moving and so special we are lucky when we can remember them. I find drinking a small glass of water before bed helps me remember my dreams. To have this dream come back where it left off is truly special. I'm happy he has this dream of Jack it is a good thing. Joe
