He went to work Wednesday and so was spared watching daytime TV, but he aggravated his back because he couldn’t sit on his ass and watch the other guys work, so he tried to help by taking a couple horses to the arena for turn-out, and one of the mares got scared when an equine-eating leaf blew in front of her and she shied and took Ennis hard to his right, which caused him to drop the lead rope, so the mare made a break for it and had fun watching the two other guys chasing her, until she got tired of the game and stopped to munch some grass, after which she was caught and put in the arena, while Ennis, bent over at the waist in pain, was given some pain pills one of the guys had left over from dental surgery, then they both got in his face and told him to go home until he could handle a horse – and that hurt a little, so he drifted off alone, like Diana Ross leaving the Supremes behind to carry the melody by themselves.

Date: 2012-10-18 10:27 pm (UTC)My horse had a spot on the trail that he wouldn't go past if we were alone...with another horse he was fine, but by himself he would back up really fast, aiming for the edge of the hill, and I have no doubt he would have taken me over with him...
