On Tuesday morning a mile from the ranch, he slammed on the brakes just in time to keep from hitting the big black dog that ran in front of his pickup. As he looked in his rear view mirror he saw the dog sitting in the middle of the street, looking back towards him.

He sat in the truck for a minute, then against his better judgment, he opened his door, put his foot on the ground and the dog took off, running into the field on the other side of the road…just as well, he thought...last thing I need...

I think so, too...and sometimes they find me when I don't need them! this is inspired by a real life event...

I think that having a dog would be a great thing for Ennis. Nothing matches the unconditional love and companionship from a pet. As an animal lover and owner of 3 rescue cats, always pick your pets from a shelter. The payback is wonderful.

I'm with you on adopting from shelters and from rescue groups, especially older animals...they're like me, they just want a nice couch to kick back on :)
