Ennis stayed late at the ranch getting things ready for Ben on Saturday. He looked over the saddles in the tack room and picked a good one...went by Thumbtack’s stall and the horse stopped munching his alfalfa to come over to the door for a scratch behind the ears...he brushed Merlin down thoroughly before tossing a flake of hay in his stall, then got his keys and lunchbox and walked out to his truck, taking note of the sky and temperature – partly cloudy, low fifties – looking forward to tomorrow, and decided against stopping for a six-pack on the way home.
