♥ Jack

He gave in and bought a six-pack on his way home from work tonight, it being Monday and all, but would probably only have two or three.
The weekend had been good, he’d had a good time showing the kid around and letting him ride for a few minutes. Seems like he was more excited about sitting at a booth at the diner then he was about riding; tell the truth, that had been Ennis’s favorite part of the day, too. Being with the kid made him realize how much he has missed the past few years...realize how big he’d grown, how smart he was.
But, damn, he’d been missing Jack...his attention had been diverted for a few days now...he’d been tired every night, so if he’d dreamed of him, he didn’t remember them.
So the plan for tonight was simple and well-practiced: he would shower, he would eat, he would relax in his old chair, have a beer and just let his mind take him back in time...and he wouldn’t focus on what he had done wrong, the tragedy of the whole thing, as he sometimes did.
No, he had already flipped through his rolodex of memories, had narrowed it down and when he settled in his chair, sat back and closed his eyes, he replayed the film of their first two nights together...starting with Jack singing at the top of his voice...that boy could sing...and he could love...
