Ennis found time during the day on Friday to work with Chief, and by quitting time the dog was walking quietly on the leash.

On the way home, as a kind of reward, and even though he knew it wasn’t good for the dog or for himself (although last time he'd had a pretty hot fucking dream about Jack after one a these things), he drove five miles out of his way to the nearest McDonald’s, where dog and master each enjoyed a high calorie, high fat, delicious quarter pounder, hold the onions, no fries.

He is based on a Rottweiler I found abandoned by the dump and brought home, and she's still with me...but Chief won't have all the fucking expensive medical problems that Jane Doe has :)
