Thursday night he dropped and broke his best flashlight as he was hunting in the shed for the broom, so ended up feeling around in the dark until he found it shoved back behind the ladder, a shovel and a rake.

He wasn’t much for cleaning up, the trailer didn’t look that dirty to him, but when he’d put his glasses on in the kitchen to read the oven time for his tv dinner, he noticed that crumbs and dog hair were starting to pile up in the corners of the floor and if he was going to start bringing the kids over, it better not look like that when Junior saw it.

He’d just meant to sweep the kitchen floor and think of things that he would do later, but one thing led to another and by the time he finally stopped, the floor was swept, the counters wiped down, the dishes washed, dried and put away and the sink scrubbed...looked pretty good, if he did say so himself.

LOL @ Ennis listening to Super Freak! I'm pretty sure he and I have different taste in music, he's more Hank Williams...

thanks for reading

Cleanliness is next to... something.

I've always found canon Ennis to be very neat. How often do we see him washing his hands! When Junior comes to visit, his trailer may be shabby and dingy, but it's clean and neat. You can see the washed dishes in the drainer. The couch/bed is carefully made. But fannish Ennis seems to be kind of sloppy.

I agree. Horsepeople tend to apply to their homes the same principles they follow at the barn: never let dirt/chores accumulate, animals first, tack/hardware second, wash self last... ;-)
But ain't this chapter lovely!

I always tell people to entertain it is a reason to get the house in order. If you have people drop in and visit more often it keeps us in check with cleaning the house. A good man he is. Joe

That's a good idea...humans are odd...we'll often keep things in better shape for strangers than for ourselves...
