There was no way Ben could go to the ranch on Saturday but Ennis was glad to hear that he wasn’t afraid to go back, Junior had done a good job of seeing to it that he understood it had just been an accident.

Since he didn’t have to work or take Ben to the ranch, and he’d been so caught up in just getting through the recent days and nights, he suddenly found that he had a free day, and even though Junior had warned him against it, he decided to make a trip to a ranch in the next county, where he’d heard there was a well-trained pony for sale at a good price.

A pony for Ben that is exciting and wonderful and well no other way to do it than to get right back up on that horse. Joe

You are so right, and Ben feels the same way, his accident didn't make him afraid to try again.

thanks

I wonder what Junior's reasons are to warn Ennis off the idea.
I guess Ennis knows that young horsepeople are best made by riding as many different horses as possible, even if the they are so lucky as to have one (or a pony) of their own-- and that the first thing Ben should do as soon as possible is to face again the situation which caused the problem, and bring it to a better conclusion with Ennis' help.
Perhaps J is thinking of the expense, not so much for purchase as for stabling?
The silver chocolate pony in the photo is stunning, although looking rather unhappy.
Each of your chapters brings something new and raises my curiosity as to where you're going... Thank you!

Right, Junior's worried about the money...but she should know her dad has "ranch connections"!

You mention the pony looking unhappy...I sometimes hesitate to do a google search for horse pictures, I've seen some things that have brought me to tears and now try to quickly scan the pages of pictures, and have learned not to look very far past the first page or two. I truly can't bear to see (or hear) of bad things happening to animals...I hope the pony in that picture just has a "look" to him, and is not really sad.

thank you......

Same here... Maybe he's just uncomfortable at being stood up for a photo, that ugly single eye staring at him...

Maybe Junior is worried about Ennis putting too much attention on one of her children, to the disappointment of the other.
