Just a little break, A Day In The Life will continue...after all, there’s a dude ranch to start...

Northern Decline

It was pretty bad.

His life.

It was pretty bad.

He hated his job, always taking orders. It bothered him more now than it used to.

A good part of his day was given to thinking about what he didn’t have and how he wasn’t going anywhere, how much he owed Alma, what would happen if he couldn’t pay one month, how he never saw the girls anymore, what would happen if his truck broke down.

A good part of his night was spent thinking about the one good thing he had. A good part of his night was spent thinking about how he was going to make it to the next time, when his life would, for a few weeks, be pretty good.

Depressing. I love it. Because that WAS Ennis' life. So now that you've given us North and South, are you going to provide us also with East and West? And then back to A Day in the Life?

Glad you like depressing! Sad that his life was like that...could he have changed it? Not Ennis.

thanks for reading and commenting, Sid

This is so perfect it aches. All the more so for the picture, that crooked smile which blooms unaware, showing just how much it cost to even get there.

All that sad, with a little happy thrown in....how did he do it?

thank you for your comment, it's lovely.

Living in the dream

The reality of life is hard and burdensome. To have this light at the end of a tunnel is a savior and when that light is extinguished it is hard to re-light. It pains me to think of how many people live this way and it is more than we know. Joe

It is sad to think of how many live with sadness such as Ennis's, and I believe you're right, it's more than we know, because we only know the outside of people.

thanks so much, Joe.
