♥ Jack

He bent over and picked up the keys, feelings of rejection turning to bitterness, feeling unwanted even at his own son's homecoming...and he hated it when LD called him “Rodeo”, the nickname he’d given Jack the first time they met.
Walking out to LD’s truck, he brought in the cases of formula and put them on the counter in the kitchen with the keys on top, and without a word to anyone - because after all, who in that house would care - he got in his truck and drove to the Bald Eagle bar and grill.
Sitting at the bar nursing a beer, he finally let himself face up to the fact that his presence in his household was not necessary, in spite of the many times he had tried, really tried, to make of a go of things. Lureen loved him, he supposed, but she was unwilling to stand up to her father, and the few times Jack had tried…well, it just hadn’t been worth his time.
No more.
The idea that had been in and out of his mind for weeks was starting to take shape...he mentally made a list of pros and cons...threw a fiver on the bar and drove like a bat out of hell the four and a half miles to the post office.
