♥ Jack
”Down in Texas Jack's father-in-law died and Lureen, who inherited the farm equipment business, showed a skill for management and hard deals. Jack found himself with a vague managerial title, traveling to stock and agricultural shows. He had some money now and found ways to spend it."
The lovemaking...no, strike that...the sex....was good, it was very good.
Michael was no kid off the street, had obviously been around but didn't come across, either before or after, as a hustler. Because he wasn't.
He needed, it turned out, exactly what Jack needed.
What did Jack need?
Ennis.
Besides that.
Closeness. Caring. Tenderness.
Jack obviously couldn't have what he needed most, and so had to settle. Some were good, some not so.
This particular coming together was something that could have changed each of them, and for the better.
If the pinnacle hadn't already been reached...
If Jack was, in any way, able to connect in a direct, honest, forthright way to another human being...
If that man up north, who was, at that very moment, crushing out his twenty-third cigarette of the day and rolling over to sleep, had the least bit of inner strength...
As the whiskey took over...loosened their tongues, loosened their bodies...they had met each other halfway.
Surprisingly, to Jack, Michael had touched him first – Jack was usually the aggressor...it gave him the upper hand, let him call the shots – but this time he almost relaxed and was content to let the other man take the lead...and he led damn well.
It was as close to making love as Jack had been in so long...
Four months
Three days
Eleven hours
Sixteen minutes
but who's counting...........
