October 21

By Sunday afternoon the effects of the pills had worn off and he felt better than he had in days…back pain all but gone, as well as the remnants of the dreams…he remembered nothing of them.

These months…September…October…this time of year had always been troublesome for him…that Pine Creek time of year, he was always out of sorts.

For some reason, maybe because of all the good sleep he’d gotten with those pills, his mind wasn’t clouded with grief…for some reason all day he had been thinking about some of their trips, thinking of the good times…only the good times.

Post traumatic stress disorder going through a life of hiding and wanting to be something you cannot be and than losing someone so tragic and to have such a secret with nobody to tell it too is very difficult and to relieve all of those moments in time even the good ones over and over can be a trauma to one person. The best therapy for trauma is "talk" therapy but with nobody to talk too it only gets worse. Joe

I apologize for butting in...
I wish to spend a word to suggest the possibility of a slightly less devastating development.
Imagine you have lost someone in a traumatical way, and can't speak about it. The only thing left to you of the person you loved is precisely the grief you can't show. So you hold on to it, hold it next to your heart, and build the rest of your life around that, using the extra-sensitivity of PTSD to prevent such a loss happening again to someone else.
It's not wishful thinking. I have rl proof that it's possible...
Thank you, morrobay and joe both, for the story and the discussion!

I'm glad Ennis has gotten a respite from his thoughts going in circles about Jack
even if it's only for a short period of time

I agree with Joe. Ennis has PTSD symptoms. He needs some help, besides the pills. :-/

Good one-shot. PS. I love that pic of Jack!. - It's from that one scene when Jack's waiting for Ennis to come on one of their visits. And Ennis arrives in his trunk, holding the fishing rods. And so Jack gets up to greet him... - If I'm remembering correctly.

Anyways. I liked it!. - I'm glad Ennis was able to focus on the good times with Jack, then the bad. But he def doesn't' need to get addicted to pain-pills. :/
